What Is FUE Hair Transplantation?

Primarily, FUE stands for follicular unit extraction. It is also called as the follicular unit transplantation, which is a surgical procedure that involves individual hair follicles’ extraction from the donor body part. Normally, new hair follicles for your scalp are taken from the back and sides of the head.

With new implants of hair follicles on your scalp, you will be able to fill in your bald spots with new strands. FUE hair transplantation is often recommended for people suffering from pattern baldness.

FUE hair transplantation is considered to be a minimally invasive solution. This is due to the fact it harvests single hair grafts one by one. The result of the procedure involves up to thousands of round “holes” where the follicles are taken.

Since 2002, the solution has become popular to baldness sufferers. It was developed by Dr. William Rasman, a hair restoration surgeon from Los Angeles. Compared to the standard strip surgery, the pain and recovery during and after the FUE treatment are considered more manageable.

There is a variety of tools used in order to execute the hair transplantation. For instance, a physician may use WAW FUE, manual punch, Neograft, crown punch, SAFE system, and Ugraft among others.

How Is FUE Hair Transplantation Is Performed?

The doctor will use a tiny instrument with a size of one millimeter in order to remove the follicle units from the scalp of the patient. The tool will not simply remove the units but create an incision as well for graft isolation.

Afterward, the extraction of graft will follow, which will be done directly from the patient’s scalp with the use of an instrument similar to tweezers. With the follicular grafts extracted, the doctor’s team should ensure that these will remain in their optimal condition.

Based on the hair strands found in every follicle, the units will be arranged in groups. Commonly, every follicle will hold one to four hair strands.

Is FUE Hair Transplantation the Right Choice for You?

FUE hair transplantation is a great option if your primary choice in bringing back your hair is through restoration procedure. What makes the surgery more interesting is that it is claimed as a “no scar” procedure unlike the standard solutions around.

However, you must know beforehand that not simply because FUE hair transplantation is claimed as a scar-free surgery, there will literally be no linear marks. It is anticipated that the procedure will provide you tiny round scars, which will be noticeable when you shave your head.

If you want to wear your hair short, FUE hair transplantation is also a great choice. It is also the solution for your hair loss if you do not mind shaving the sides and back your head for the procedure. There are people who do not undergo the transplantation since they often go out and they do not want anyone to notice their surgery.

The scope of the procedure will determine how much you will spend for the transplant. Physicians at times charge depending on the necessary grafts.

How Should You Start to Treat Your Hair Loss?

Before you undergo the procedure itself, it is always necessary to consult the surgeon first. As much as possible, you work with physicians who have good and recognized credentials. Most importantly, find doctors who were trained to perform the transplant and has a proven history of conducting it.

From then on, your doctor will guide you through the process of the hair transplant.

  1. I do prefer the Minoxidil method as to me that would be more ideal and easier. Also, like you said above it’s more effective solution and as reduced rate of hair loss. Not sure about the surgery option as don’t think my hair is that bad at the moment but maybe in the more distant future I may look into it. Also, by time in future, there will probably be more treatments which you will more likely have on your future articles.
