Watermans Grow Me Shampoo

Just like makeup appeals to most women because of deep-seated insecurities, finding anti-hair loss products is a growing concern to millions of men all over. Young and old men who suffer from alopecia and male-pattern baldness are quick to purchase with the latest hair products in the market today. All of the products claim to have perfected the formula that can promote hair growth or at least stop falling hair.

One such product is the Watermans Grow Me shampoo. It is the brainchild of the husband and wife team of Matt and Gail Waterman. The Watermans operate their business in Rotherham, South Yorkshire in the UK. According to the couple, they were desperate to find a product in the market that could address a common problem—hair loss. Developing a product that would help control hair loss became their mission to have a solution for their own hair-loss experiences.

However, the Watermans developed the shampoo with another thing in mind. Not only they want a product that will stimulate hair growth, but also resolve the hormonal imbalance in the scalp, which could result in flaking and itching. They also want something to rehydrate the follicles, as well as revitalize dry hair. Lastly, they also want something that would be perfect for every type of hair.

Here’s a list of benefits the Watermans Grow Me shampoo claims to offer when used:

  • Sulfate-free and paraben-free
  • Salon-tested
  • DHT blockers as active ingredient
  • Prevent falling hair for women in pregnancy or menopause
  • Healing effects vs dandruff or itchy scalp
  • Boosts circulation in the scalp
  • Improves hair density
  • Supplies nutrients and oxygen to hair roots

The anti-hair loss shampoo retails on Amazon with a surprisingly cheaper price compared to the other products of its kind in the market today. On the other hand, it is still four or five times more expensive than your average shampoo. It also claims to revitalize people who have dry hair extensions and those who are wearing a weave. Among the active ingredients you can find in the label are DHT blockers, sweet lupin, Rosemary extract, Argan oil, caffeine, biotin, anti-oxidants (C, H, B3, B6, and B7), and other vitamins. There have been studies that claim the anti-hair loss effects of these nutrients.

Hair Loss: A Growing Market

According to the Grand View Research, the hair-loss market in 2015 was valued at $7.5 billion. They projected the valuation to balloon by almost $12 billion in the year 2024.

This could be the case because of the growing number of people suffering from hair loss. The same research revealed about 35 million men suffer from hair loss. As for women, it’s 21 million. The market is expected to expand due to potential hair loss as a symptom or side effect of chronic diseases like cancer and diabetes. There’s also the fact that the population is aging—more than 8 in 10 men who are 50 years and above suffer from thinning hair. Increased stress levels were also found to contribute to the rapid hair loss.

More Bite Than Bark

The Methylchloroisothiazolinone, Methylisothiazolinone preservative blend is used in Watermans Grow Me Shampoo and Conditioner can cause severe allergies.

Now, on to the stuff you want to read.

We initially were drawn to this product naturally because of its price point. It is a common belief that the more expensive the hair loss shampoo, the more effective it is for you. At the back of our minds, we were half-expecting this product is not effective as compared to the other pricier ones on the market. Let us say you discovered a product that could solve the problem of millions of men and women around the world. Why would you sell a product you think that’s more effective from the rest of the competition for such a low price? This would make you skeptical.

Nonetheless, we purchased two bottles so we could give a full assessment if it works or not. For good measure, we also bought the complementary conditioner, which is also aids in stimulating hair growth.

Conclusion? We felt the Watermans shampoo was a waste of money. It’s an okay product when it comes to cleansing your hair of grime and oil. For a hair-loss product, you’re much better purchasing a pricier, doctor-recommended one that actually works.

We also noticed our hair getting more brittle over time. I blame it all on the shampoo, but we used nothing else. On the other hand, our hair might just be brittle with or without the shampoo, so it could have been that. We’re on the fence regarding this.

Another thing we noticed is that our hair has gone drier than usual. It’s hard to explain, but the texture has become “grainy.” We really thought this product is effective considering that it lathers very well.

On the plus side, the Watermans shampoo smells good, so there’s that.

Nevertheless, we are not saying that this won’t work for everybody. Reading up on the reviews on Amazon, about half of the people who used this product only had good things to say about it. But then again, 50% success rate does not necessarily mean the Watermans shampoo will work for all types of hair. Although the conditioner can help, it remains to be seen whether the shampoo is an effective product to reduce hair loss.

We are not alone in making this observation, either. There are a number of consumers online who experienced the same thing, so maybe it only works for a specific type of hair. It is also possible that the shampoo was too strong for your hair type.

Of course, there’s nobody to blame but ourselves into believing the Watermans shampoo can actually reduce hair loss. A low-range price for the fountain of youth? Not happening this time, at least for this shampoo. If you’re on the lookout for a really effective anti-hair loss shampoo on the market, the budget should not be your first consideration. Watermans, on the other hand, might work for some people if used in the long run, but it remains to be known as an effective treatment for full hair.

  1. I have never heard of this shampoo nor have I used it. But it sounds fantastic to me. I would love to obtain a bottle of this shampoo and use it. I like that it is paraben free and helps make the hair denser.
